As cat owners for nearly 20 years and who have had 4 different vets over that time, we can absolutely state that Dr. Negrea is hands down the most caring, friendly and pleasant person we have had the pleasure of tending to our cats. His office staff are exceptional and they really enhance his ability to provide care. We also purchase food from them and when needed medicine from his well stocked location.

We also want to add, that we are always reluctant to medicate our cats unless absolutely required and what we appreciate about Dr. Negrea is that before he looks to prescribe a medicine, he looks to food options and more natural remedies. As an example, we had an older cat who had the makings of crystals in his urine. He could have prescribed medicine, but instead he recommended starting with cranberry pills and a diet adjustment. This really meant a lot to us as he was clearly looking at the best way for our cat and in the end, the changes really helped without going to a medicine.

A very kind and respectful man, who cared for my dog beautifully.

The local community is so lucky to have such an exceptional team available to care for their animals and I know he sees more animals than just cats, such as dogs and many smaller creatures too. We would highly recommend him to anyone who has animals that they love as they can rest assured that he will care for them in the way that you would want and he is someone who truly has a passion and love for all of his patients.

If you are reading this review right now then you are probably trying to decide which cat hospital is the best for your pet. You don't need to look any further. Beacon Cat Hospital is the absolute best hospital ever from the most amazingly talented and huge hearted vet Dr Ellen Guttormson to Molly at the front desk that took my frantic call on August 20th. On August 19th, my wife and I were bicycling from Fulford Harbour on Salt Spring Island to Ruckle Beach for some end of summer camping when we discovered two very small abandoned kittens in a blackberry bush. We tried to get them to a vet hospital but it was already late in the day and no one was open. Including the emergency shelter which just had an answering service. By sheer miracle we had some canned tuna with us so we were able to keep them alive until we could get a ferry out in the morning and get to Schwartz Bay. By that time they needed medical attention right away I tried calling one hospital near Schwartz Bay but they were closed. I tried another in Sydney but was told that the doctor was fully booked! This was an emergency darn it! I then called Beacon Cat Hospital and spoke to Molly. What a Jem she is. She told me yes, please bring these little kitties in right away and they will do everything they can to help out. We did and not only did they help feed them and clean them up but Ellen even brought them to her home to recover!! Unbelievable service! You tell me of another vet you know that would take care of your kitty with love and compassion like this. Even though we live on the North Shore of the mainland. We will definitely be back! Give these amazing people a chance at taking care of your loved ones. If you are like us, you will be totally amazed by the level of service you will receive and your kitty will agree.

Knowledgeable and friendly service when our gate got an infection from a bite.

We have 4 indoor cats that we absolutely adore and have been seeing Dr. Negrea since the previous doctor sold the business, which was later in 2016. When we met him, we could tell immediately that he had a true love for animals and was very tender and caring toward our cats. Since that first visit we have had a handful of other visits as one of our aging cats needed some help and we also adopted a young rescue kitty who came from out of province and needed some added care.

The other thing we witnessed has been his willingness to help cats that literally are in rough shape and abandoned. He looks to give them a new lease on life and the care and dedication he shows and how he talks about them is nothing short of touching. This is a man who really cares and loves animals and it shows in how he conducts himself at all of our visits.

Have been bringing my cats here since I moved here 9 years ago. Miss Dr. Ellen, but Dr. Victor has been nothing but caring and committed to my senior cats. He is a great man.

We trust the doctor and his advice. He is pragmatic, friendly and really considers the best for the fuzzy patient, while giving you all of the options to make the best choice. I know it was mentioned earlier in the review, but the office staff are just such a delight to work with and are all so caring as well, often calling to follow up on how our cats are doing.
